A SPECIAL NOTE TO OUR WEEKEND GUESTS: Weekends are extremely busy at Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain. We often reach our capacity limit for the Scandinavian Baths experience by lunchtime. Upon arrival Baths access is guaranteed with every massage booking but not guaranteed for Scandinavian Baths guests. If you arrive for the Baths experience only, you may be added to the wait list. Additionally, you may be asked to share a locker key with another person in your party. Our change room & lockers are compact so we recommend that guests do not bring large bags or back packs. Thank you for your understanding.
- Q:
Are massage treatments reimbursable by my private group insurance?
All our Registered Massage Therapists are accredited by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Receipts can be issued for insurance purposes. Please ask for a receipt after your massage. Note that our receipt policy is regulated by the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario. Please visit www.cmto.com for more information.
- Q:
What are your opening hours?
We are open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., rain or shine. Scandinave Spa is closed only on December 25.
- Q:
How far ahead should I make reservations?
Please note that we do not take advance reservations for the Scandinavian Baths. If you would like a massage treatment, we recommend reserving two weeks ahead for the best availability.
- Q:
What should I bring?
Bathing suits are mandatory. Sandals or flip-flops are recommended. These items can also be purchased at our boutique. Each guest receives two towels, a locker and a key. Water fountains are available on site.
- Q:
Since your facilities are outdoors, what happens in rain or poor weather?
The Scandinavian Baths are open year-round, rain, shine or snow. Our facilities are designed so that you can enjoy the hydrotherapy experience regardless of the weather. In case of lightening during a thunderstorm, the baths may close temporarily.
- Q:
Can we eat on site?
Scandinave Spa does have a bistro on-site. We offer a daily selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, cookies, fruit juices, tea and coffee. Please note that food cannot be brought into the spa activity and guests do not have in & out privileges.
- Q:
Are alcoholic drinks allowed?
We advise strongly against alcohol consumption during a hydrotherapy experience, but a guest can enjoy beer or wine from the Spa Bistro after they are done. Management reserves the right to prohibit access to clients who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Q:
Are children allowed on site?
Access to the site is reserved for people 19 and over.
- Q:
I am pregnant. Can I have a massage anyway? Is it possible to experience the baths?
All of our Registered Massage Therapists have been trained to give massages perfectly suited to the conditions of pregnant women. While these massages are available to women who are more than 13 weeks pregnant, it is important to mention this in advance when reserving.
The Scandinavian Baths are not recommended for pregnant women because sudden temperature changes can lead to complications. Please consult your doctor.
- Q:
Can I receive care if I am under medication or suffering from certain health problems?
We recommend that you discuss any issues with your health professional. If you are taking medication or have particular health problems (such as cancer), therapeutic treatments are sometimes best to avoid. A note from your doctor may be requested by your massage therapist. All guests are asked to fill out a health form which asks specific questions about one’s health. The Massage Therapist will review this form with you before your treatment.
- Q:
Is it necessary to get fully undressed to receive care?
Our therapist team is professional and respectful. Our massage therapists are trained to use sheets to keep you covered while being massaged and to respect your privacy. Only the area being massaged is uncovered. It is more comfortable to receive a massage when no clothing is worn, but we respect the choice of our clients who prefer to keep clothes on.
- Q:
Do you accept groups? Do you have special group rates?
Scandinave Spa offers advantageous rates on baths for groups of 12 or more people. Also, up to 16 people may receive massages at the same time.
For more information, contact our group department at 877-988-8484 or info@scandinaveblue.com.
- Q:
Do you provide lodging packages?
Take advantage of a lodging and spa package in our magnificent region. Scandinave Spa is pleased to be associated with hotel partners in the region (lodges, B&Bs, inns and hotels). More info.
- Q:
Why do the Baths have a waitlist?
In an effort to maximize guest experience we do limit the number of guests in the Scandinavian Baths on busy days. This number fluctuates based on the capacity in the locker rooms as well as the outdoor activity. We do suggest that weekend/holiday visitors plan their visit in the mornings or late afternoons to avoid a long waitlist. We thank you for your understanding during these busy days.
- Q:
A guest can get a receipt if they have filled out a health form & personally received the treatment. Additionally, a guest must pay for the massage to receive a receipt. Gift cards and corporately paid treatments are not-reimbursable based on the guidelines provided by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. For more information, please visit www.cmto.com.
