- Swedish massage uses oil to facilitate smooth movements, unlike Deep tissue massage.
- This massage is more general. The goal is not to target specific areas or tensions, as is done with Deep tissue and Therapeutic massage, for example.
- It’s a more a holistic approach, making this massage ideal for a first-time experience.
- The rhythm of the movements varies, though the goal is always to be soothing.
- With this type of massage, it’s particularly easy and appropriate to adjust the pressure, from a firmer touch to a gentle effleurage, depending on your preferences.
- This type of massage is enveloping and does not involve manipulating individual limbs, as is done in Therapeutic massage.
- This massage isn’t eligible for insurance reimbursement compared to a RMT massage (Registered Massage Therapist).
