This year has been tough on all of us and taking time for personal wellness has never been more important. We encourage you to take time for yourself, whether you can visit our baths or if you have to stay and relax in the comfort of your own home at this time. Bringing Scandinave Spa home has never been easier with our new Spa at Home packages. To enhance your hydrotherapy experience, wherever you are, we have put together some of our favourite retail items, including our signature hooded, fluffy bathrobe, a pair of Native X Scandinave Spa sandals, a eucalyptus-scented candle, and a handy black tote bag. Check it out here.

We’ve got some tips on how you can recreate our hydrotherapy experience while incorporating our new Spa at Home package:

Hot – Warm the body

Start your cycle by taking a hot bath. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil blend (we love eucalyptus and balsam fir) or some bubbles and bath salts for a little something extra. Not a bath person? Have a shower and add some essential oil drops to your shower walls for a steam bath experience. Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths while spending up to 10-15 minutes heating your body. By increasing your body temperature, your blood vessels will dilate, reducing blood pressure and increasing blood flow to the skin and muscles.

Cold – Take the plunge

Continue the cycle by bracing yourself for a cold rinse off. Simply turn on or switch that shower to cold water for 10-15 seconds. The cold water causes blood vessels to constrict, causing the blood to rush back into organs. This step also closes the skin’s pores and flushes toxins. A blast of cold also helps to release endorphins and increase your heart rate. This stage is where you will receive the most benefit from the hot-cold-relax circuit.

Relax – Embrace silence

After completing the hot and cold steps of your at-home hydrotherapy cycle, it is time to relax. Dry off, put on your new fluffy bathrobe and light your eucalyptus candle. Sink into your couch or wherever you feel comfortable and cozy. Close your eyes and try a short, mindful breathing exercise. If your mind starts to wander, direct your focus back to breathing. Count to four while you breathe in, pause then slowly release for another four counts. Repeat for 5-10 minutes. The final stage in the cycle allows the cardiovascular system to regulate itself and helps the body stabilize your heart rate and blood flow. This is a time for the body and mind to rest and relax. While it may be tempting to grab your phone and scroll, try to disconnect from all technology and embrace silence for your entire spa-at-home ritual.

We miss having you at Scandinave Spa but finding time to connect and practice wellness at home is still a gift you can give to yourself. When you are ready to return to our beautiful, natural environment, remember your new tote bag, sandals, and other spa essentials. We hope to see you soon!
